About The Barrington of Carmel
The goodness of the heartland comes to life
Since 2014, The Barrington of Carmel has established itself as the best-in-class senior living retirement community in Carmel, Indiana. We offer a standard of living that not only enriches the daily lives of all we serve but also assures them they’ll be supported with a lifetime of compassionate care and financial security. In 2019, The Barrington of Carmel was purchased by the local, non-profit organization BHI Senior Living.
Additionally, The Barrington of Carmel’s status as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization means all revenues are reinvested into the community. This not only fuels the development of better services, amenities, and opportunities for our residents but also ensures that in the event of financial hardship that’s no fault of your own, you won’t be asked to leave the community.
The Barrington of Carmel is a BHI Senior Living Community
About BHI
At its core, BHI is an organization deeply committed to doing what’s right for the people we serve. From our beginnings in 1905 as an organization founded to care for orphaned children, to our 50-year history of providing an exceptional quality of life for seniors, our non-profit, faith-based foundation guides us in every decision we make.
Our life plan communities are each recognized for superlative care and an enviable lifestyle — supported by one of the most well-respected and well-funded non-profit organizations in Indiana: BHI Senior Living Inc.

One of the most financially stable senior living organizations in the midwest
Throughout our long history in Indiana, BHI Senior Living has maintained a robust financial position — despite the ups and downs of the national economy — and has earned a BBB+ rating from Fitch, the international financial rating agency.
BHI’s healthy financial profile has enabled us to continually provide residents of our Life Plan Retirement Communities with a fulfilling, active retirement lifestyle, a full continuum of healthcare, and the promise and peace of mind that accompany long-term stability — including the availability of benevolent care if needed.
